Our commitment. NHS Performance Intelligence is used by NHS organisations, so we aim for the standard NHS services aim for: WCAG 2.2 level AA across the Platform, this website, and generated board packs.
1. What we do
- Semantic headings and landmarks throughout
- Keyboard operability with visible focus states
- Colour contrast targeting WCAG 2.2 AA; RAG status is accompanied by position, labels, and text rather than colour alone
- Text alternatives for images; data visualisations are accompanied by text summaries or data tables
- Responsive layouts that reflow at high zoom levels
- Board packs generated as printable documents with a logical reading order
2. Known limitations
- Some dense analytical charts (for example, the funnel plot and seasonal heatmap) are hard to convey fully to screen readers. Each carries a text summary, and we are extending data-table equivalents.
- A formal third-party accessibility audit has not yet been carried out. We test internally as described below and fix verified failures promptly.
- Third-party content we link to (national publications) is outside our control.
3. Testing
We test with keyboard-only navigation, automated accessibility tooling, and zoom and contrast checks as part of release. Screen-reader testing is carried out with VoiceOver. We will update this statement when a formal audit is completed.
